Retired Bishop Of Orange

The Most Rev. Norman F. McFarland, retired Bishop of Orange passed away peacefully at his home in Orange at 6:15 a.m., April 16, 2010 after a brief illness.

Bishop McFarland was known for his financial administrative abilities but he was also a prolific writer taking on spiritual and societal challenges head on. Under his leadership, Catholic Charities of Orange County moved to become a multi-million dollar operation in service of those most in need.

The Vigil Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Cathedral in Orange on Thursday, April 22, 2010. The Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday morning, April 23, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. also at Holy Family Cathedral in Orange.
